I got this Jefferson nickel as change the other day and was wondering how to tell if it may be a Black Beauty. Still in the learning curve so any info would be great Thanks

Looks like environmental damage to me.

Thanks for the input. Was not getting my hopes up to high. Tried using auto correct on Paint . net and it really made the coin much darker. Will upload the original pic to compare it with. Thanks again

@rev03 That is quite a difference in colour between the two sets of pictures.
It still appears to have some environmental damage/corrosion along with expected wear for a 1962 nickel.

This is environmental toning on this coin. We can see some of the silvery color of the nickel metal. if it were a black beauty, there would be no silver showing and the original luster would still be visible.
