Hi all. Back again just got a bunch of rolls so I'm separating by date and see this

1983-P-Penny-Date-Cud?
1983-P-Penny-Date-Cud?
1983-P-Penny-Date-Cud?
1983-P-Penny-Date-Cud?

Could that be a mint error or just plating issues? Looks like a dollop of metal like solder

@ski, when there is a die chip formed on an internal part of a number or letter (like you have with the number 8), we call it a broken post. No numismatic premium, but a fun find. Also, in order for it to be a Cud, the rim must necessarily be involved.

This filled in 8 is one of the die markers for 1DO-003/wDDO-011 but can't tell if it's a match due to the quality of pitches worth checking on this.

Yes, a die chip (broken post). I've seen many, but not on an '83 Memorial cent. Nice.

I have seen a few on 1983, upper and lower on the 8.
