Hands down the ICG coin was a far better buy than the PCGS piece decided on . With the spots I would have passed,

@manosgerms Yes, the 09SVDB has gone up quite a bit of late. I purchased mine about 10 years ago. MS63BN in a PCGS slab, (but it looks RB) for around $1,400 US.

@Mainemember thanks it was a bit of a shock because I am quite on and off when it comes to US coins (there are some small series like the Barber dimes that I collect carefully but other than that I look at world coins more) but I am trying to get up to speed now that I have a bit more free time. In hindsight your purchase looks like a great bargain but I am sure it felt expensive at the time. @ Dearborn congrats on the purchase - I guess US key dates really are blue chip coins. that only seem to go one way.

Thanks Rejecter, I appreciate that. Even though it is an expensive coin, it is not an MS coin So I will be uncaging this one to place in my Dansco 8100 Album It is the very last coin I was missing from start to present. so I'm very pleased that I got a coin I have been only dreaming of all these years.

@manosgerms just for another data point, I paid $1600 for my 09-S VDB PCGS MS63RB in 2017. I haven't been watching the market either; wow, they have definitely gone up!

Fantastic coin to compliment your superb collections. By the way Dearborn, I do not see a link to your Franklin's or if you have a Standing Liberty quarter collection. The later I'm not sure I want to venture into, due to cost and rarities.

Quote: Oh boy...here we go again Yep! here we go is right - such a fun ride, ain't it? I need to fill a few more holes before I display the Franklins - something I really need to do, BUT, first I want to finish up grading all my silver Washington quarters to BU condition from the very low grades I have now. (I just bought a 1932-D BU quarter and I'm waiting on delivery for that one.)
