Hello Gilly,

I appreciate your feedback Too. I have been ordering from the U S Mints on line for Decades, Many Annual orders, Every Year about 45+ orders, Most collector's doing business with the Mints Know that After Three Shipped orders, The rest are FREE.....

They are Usually on the ball, ordering that is, However, They latest Circus acts on Release day Have changed their " Norm ", If they ever had one. Completely Unacceptable, Especially from a Seasoned 50+ Year history with them, Very poor reflection on the Hobby. IMO.

Seems they Always shoot Themselves in the Foot, Thinking they are Advancing the " Web site ". All considered, I miss the Ole Days, They would Never lose an order. Today, Sorry Due to Overwhelming response , Our Newly updated Web site Still Sucks wind, We ask that you Please bear with us, Try Again.

I called last week to have my order associated with my account so that at least it is in there for historical purposes. At the same time I also requested that they reverse the shipping since I have at least 5 subscriptions that have already shipped this year. The person said they'd escalate the request. However, I don't see either having been done yet. I'll give it a few more days then call again.

I understand what you are telling me. I don't think you understand what I am trying to tell you.
I'll try again.
If you don't log in to your account when you order, they won't know "you are you". The shipping will be on your order because if you don't, the orders you placed are unknown to their system.
If they could somehow automatically associate "you" with "your account", or somehow keep you logged in unless you log yourself out, that would fix it I guess. Like when you come to this forum, typically you are still logged in. Unless you're gone for months.
My guess is because the potential is there for either the Mint or yourself to get hacked, but not sure.
So the main thing to remember, is if there is a "drop day" event like this, where you can't order an item on subscription, is to make sure you get logged in to your account.
Again I was nervous about this, but here's what I did and it worked:
I waited for my chance to order, and put the coin in my cart ("added to the bag" as they put it). THEN I logged in to my account, the coin (Army Privy ASE) was still there in my cart. Then I checked out. That way,I got my free shipping. I was nervous logging in to my account, afraid I'd get booted off the Mint website, but no, it went just fine.
If you don't do that, they can't or won't associate the current order with your past orders. You have to be logged in to your account BEFORE you pay for them to remove the shipping fee.

Gilly, I'm sure that it works for you. It doesn't work for me. I always make sure I'm logged in to my account before ordering. I have had 20 subscriptions sent to me this year with no shipping charges. I have had three orders placed, including the Gold Sacagawea and they have charged me shipping for all three. I have signed up for all notifications from the mint and never get any. Later this year when I have an hour or two to sit on hold I'll call them and get the shipping charges reversed like I have done for the last four years. They always promise to fix it but never do.

Well that's really odd. Especially having the account, but never getting emails. You'd think the mint could sort that out.
Personally the first thing I'd check is the email address they have on file. As you know, something's wrong. Other people are getting their free shipping, it's not like it's a general problem. The program DOES work, and I'm certainly far from being some sort of computer expert.
One thing I do know, if this matters (I doubt it), but for some reason I get the monthly newsletter on 2 different email addresses, the one for my ISP (.net address), and my Gmail (.com address). Officially the address I use with the Mint is my ISP address. When I buy something, the receipt is emailed to that.
I'd double check your email address on your account first, because it's not right you don't get the monthly emails, I also get notices about upcoming release, etc. It's a bit more than I like to get, but that's "the deal". I'm good for at least scanning what they sent me, sometimes interesting, sometimes not.

I do get the notifications after I purchase an item and the shipping notices with the tracking number. So my email address is good. I'll get a notification of a new item if I request it but I have to request it each and every time using the "Notify me" button. I just don't get the regular mint notices and I've signed up for them multiple times.

Again not very techie, compared to a lot of people anyways.
I'd try logging in to your account and carefully double check the email address on your account (I suspect that is correct) and also the email on your communication preferences, as I have posted a picture of. Make sure they match and everything is perfect, like .CON vs .COM, missing the period, it a general mismatch or misspelling. Make sure you have the 2 boxes checked, etc. There has to be a reason.
EDIT I'd call them out every time they charged me! Call them up, tell them you've done everything correctly, and give me my dang $5.95 back! They'd figure it out.

Subscription shipments DO count towrds the loyalty program:

Loyalty Program

This.

I failed on this release and got bit with shipping. It shouldn't have to be like that but oh well, lesson learned. In my defense (or something), this is the first non-subscription purchase I've had in a few years so didn't have my 'A' game. Regardless, I'll keep trying to have shipping reversed so I can use that $6 for something else, but I'm not hopeful. I'll be ready for the next one!!

Agreed, this helps a lot (subs counting for your free shipping). I think that either changed in the last few years, or I had to get my ducks in a row as far as my accounts, etc. I had to call them at least once, so I've been through the same process these guys are going through. I think it was a situation where I wasn't fully in the loyalty program, but it's foggy to me now as to what was wrong, but I think had to do with my email address or addresses.
What I can't conjure up is why I get emails at both my ISP and Gmail, it looks like it should only be my ISP address. And did that have any effect as to fixing my free shipping problem? I might go in and recheck things.
But yes for this year, I already had 2 counted shipments already in January, the W proof and Congrats set. It sounds like all of us commenting are pretty much getting well over 3 purchases a year. I still think customers like us should be able to get some of these orders (drop day releases) confirmed ahead of time, before all the Rams.

I think I remember, this was a couple problems, and if don't know me (I assume you don't) I am very stubborn when presented a challenging problem. It's what I'm known for at work.
I think it may have been partly the email problem.
I looked and still don't know why exactly I get the info sent to 2 addresses, but I think there was a mismatch between my email on my account (the ISP one) and the one for communication preferences (Gmail). So that was part of it. And I think the Gmail one just "stuck" and I don't want to mess with what's working, so I just let the Mint send to both, no biggie.
The other thing to look for, regarding subscriptions. Make SURE the payment method shown ON EACH SUBSCRIPTION matches the one listed on your account for the payment method. Otherwise I don't think you get the credit towards your loyalty program.
They NOW are giving free shipping on your first loyalty program purchases per year, but in the past, I didn't think the free shipping kicked in until after the 3 purchases. But if the CC doesn't match up, I think they take away the free shipping as well.
On an order day/drop day scenario, you will be free to pay with whatever card you want to use, and still get free shipping (I changed my gold Sac dollar from "my" debit card to "our" credit card, to help me get more money lined up to pay for the gold. I did get the free shipping). But subscriptions are set up a bit differently, that could be the hassle some of you are having. It's all slowly coming back to me now.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I was reading (proofread) my own post, and I think I remember this all now, now that I remember the statement about "my" debit card and "our" credit card.
Preamble is "we" have a checking account, for household expenditures, and I have my own checking for my purchases, (like coins #128540; and such), that has a debit card attached.
So I was always worried about not having enough in my own checking if I bought an expensive coin. So I had my account attached to OUR credit card. That was fine for awhile, but my wife asked to just watch what I'm doing and use my debit card, and if there was an expensive one "then we'll talk". So I wasn't going to argue over it, I watch my money closely enough and I thought it was a fair call.
So I changed my debit card to be my primary card on my Mint account, but it was still set to OUR credit card on some if not all of my subscriptions. You list the payment method on EACH ONE of your subscriptions. So if you are banking on having free shipping, again make sure you use the credit card that is your primary credit card on your account!
You have to check EACH subscription for this. It took me a little while to change them all.

In communication preferences, you'll notice that top box you have to check to be on the loyalty program (note asterisk).

So I checked my Communications Preferences, all the correct boxes were checked including the one with the asterisk. Email is good. I know that subscriptions count toward the Loyalty Program. Like I said this has happened in years past also and I always get refunded for the shipping charges. I just wait toward the end of the year and tell them all of the order numbers for which I was charged shipping.

A big part of the puzzle for me is what I was saying about the credit card numbers. The one I had listed, again, on EACH subscription, the ones I said took my awhile to change over, and compare that to the card you have as your primary credit card on your account. They HAVE to match.
Believe me, the person I had talked to on the phone at the mint was scratching her head over this as well, it was not an easy fix, or not easy for her to figure out. I think I was in the phone an hour.

I'd like you to try putting in your email address again on your account and your comm preferences. Could emails possibly be going to your spam? Or if you have a couple different email addresses, try changing both email addresses to one of those. If you aren't getting monthly newsletters, them I firmly believe they simply have something wrong, and due to this you aren't in the program. But it could be the credit card problem, that was my problem.
At first I was getting the free shipping, then I changed ONLY my primary card number, but not the number the subscriptions were being billed to, and that's when I lost free shipping. Plus my wife asking me why these are still on OUR credit card! That was the big push to figure this out, plus the free shipping.
