The Royal Mint - Celebrate a distinguished moment of British history with this beautifully struck 1750 bronze medal, which pays tribute to George Frederick, Prince of Wales, as the first Governor of the Free British Fisheries Society. The medal stands as a celebration of the Society's establishment and its role in advancing the nation's fishing industry.

On the obverse, a portrait of Frederick, Prince of Wales, facing right, surrounded by the inscription "FREDERICK PRINCE OF WALES, GOVERNOR OF THE SOCIETY." This dignified image honours his pivotal position at the heart of the Society's early years.

The reverse presents a vibrant scene of fishermen at work, nets and barrels at hand, with trawlers set against a coastal backdrop. The legend reads:
"TO THE ADVANTAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN"
"FREE BRIT FISHERY BY A SOCIETY ESTABL 1750".

With a diameter of approximately 40 millimeters and struck in bronze, this medal is attributed to the designer Ludwig Christian Koch.

This is another case of The Royal Mint pretending that it's an antique medallion dealer offering something at a big markup over market value.

I wonder how it works, in practice.

Does Johnny Coin Dealer contact The Royal Mint and say I've got this really nice medallion which you can have on sale or return for £100?
Does The Royal Mint look at it and think, we'll offer it at £350 and see if anyone bites?
