Interesting story on gold plated coins.
My sister's ex-husband's dad worked at a local circuit board factory, where he dipped the circuit boards in gold to plate the metal. He used to dip his quarters and other coins in the gold.
He would use the dipped coins as a tip at grocery stores and such because he liked the reactions from people. I still have one of the quarters from those days.
