I won this off whatnot recently and this was a very surprising item in the lot I won.

I found several similar type coins on numista as I was searching trying to find the type coin I have. Another website, Augustuscoins.com had several examples of contemporary counterfeit type coins from both Claudius and Nero Sesteri denominations.
Weight: 26.05g,
Size: between 33-36.5mm
I am just curious if others think this is a real coin that had its reverse played with to make most of the detail wear off? At least I think I found the possible NCAPR counterstamp ideas with the online searching. The obverse I kinda figured out already; it is the reverse that I am still working out, but I could make out a standing figure in a robe with that counterstamp over the figure. This coin is approximately in coin alignment.

I had to hold this coin in my fingers to get the best possible lighting angle for good effect.

I'd say the coin is real and had a very rough time with history. That counter stamp and all the rest is just too strange for anyone to make in that quality that way. I believe a profit motive is important and I see no reason anyone would have to make such a thing. If the coin and emperor was famous maybe, but this would take far too much time to make and age so bizarrely. Like if you commissioned someone to make exactly that in that condition in a modern process, the artist would have a heck of a time, have to charge a lot, and not come close to making something that looks like that. Just my opinion. Also, this photo I just took, is a 6 inch deep bowl of coins that I have no idea what to do with and keep putting off for decades. So I have seen lots of odd things.

Very well said Louisville. The counterstamp looks legit.
