Hello Everyone, Just recently joined and I decided to ask for some advise/help. I am trying to take photos of the Set and will make a post for each coin in the set, as that is what I was told to do so as to not take away from the original coin. I have had this set for probably 30 + years now and wanted to pull it out and see how it is fairing and really take a good look at it. 30 + years ago I would just buy coins, lock them up and forget about them. This is one of the cleanest sets I have ever seen at least for me it has been, I am sure yall have much better...

The Nickel is sharp, squared edges, satin finish unless you put a light real close to it even then not very shiny but the detail is crisp, full steps etc..... Heck the whole set is sharp with awesome details and no scratches or marks except for one little black spot on the Benjamin.

Anyway, what is the best way to photograph with them being sealed from the mint ? The plastic makes it hard because of the light refraction. I have a Canon Rebel xti with a Tamron Macro lens I used to take photos of Coral I had in my tanks I used to sell Coral and grow it. What kind of lighting should I use etc...

Here is the Nickel, sorry if not up to yall's standards as I am learning still..
Thanks

Nice to hear that you took good care of your coins for so long. You said your set is 1964 yet you said Benjamin had a spot on it, 1963 was the last year of Ben. Franklin.

I apologize, you are correct I am thinking about my 1955, 1957 and 1958 Set. The Kennedy in this 1964 Set is Beautiful and problem free..

to CCF.
There is no real god way to get images of coins inside a plastic holder, but it can be done.
I usually have the light almost directly overhead, I tilt the holder slightly towards me and then have my camera as perpendicular to the holder. I move the camera away from the holder until I see no reflection, then zoom in the frame the coin I want and snap away.

That sounds good. It's more or less what I do but I'm not too clever at spotting reflections. Sometimes I see the corner of my iPhone's case (thin curved red line) just as I'm about to post! Aaaaaagh!!!
