That being said, I am looking at a bicentennial quarter sitting on my desk...

Ahhhhh....but then the Lincoln Cent is by far, the most collected coin in the country........not the quarter....

Sacs, Ikes, State Quarters, gold dollars, new nickel design and now Lincolns. They mint a bazillion and then start planning their next attack on collectors. OK, I said it, Hope I did not offend anyone, sorry.

That said, I am willing to bet that if you take the money you spend and put it money markets and you will be way ahead of the game. Or, better yet, if you want to invest in coins, buy a Lincoln key date. Then you can't lose.

I agree with most of what you said but to buy a key date and think nothing will ever happen is false I think. If the market collapses that key date want be worth anything IMHO. B/c if that happens noone will be wanting to spend all that money on a key coin

Numismatic News-May 12, 2009, Title for the Formative year release @ Lincoln City, IND, " Numismatic Woodstock". How many people will show up at this Ceremony, by most accounts tooooo many probably.
I would also state this reflects the value of this years Lincoln Cents, ALL of them. I believe they will, like most 2009 released Lincoln coins, hold there value and quite possibly rise some, this all is "somewhat" dependent on if and when the Feds release the Hoards of the Cents they have tucked away, bending the floors in the vaults across America.Either way, I believe the coins will be always 'Hunted"..... ...PS:See you at the Ceremony....

I think it will hold a minimum premium over time. However, I think my heirs will be glad I purchased the Cabin rolls from the mint.

Especially the unopened "two Roll Sets" ! .....
(Not so much the bank rolls....because more and more it's being discovered that they aren't all log cabin Cents in there ! )
The ol' "premium on the U.S. Mint paper/packaging" debate..........
Might just be valid this time !
