Dearborn Moderator United States 97685 Posts	Posted 12/21/2024 12:34 pm Well, it would appear that a gift I got from Jay was my SS (posted a few days ago) was incorrect and I got my real Secret Santa gift yesterday! It consists of a bunch of nice coins 14 of them in fact, each one from a different country. I also got a nice card and a note explaining the coins. I'll post up the pictures in a bit as I need to image them (as a group and the card/note. In short the note stated that Santa hoped the coins would help out on my world coin quest. Which it does in a HUGE way. out of the 14 coins I got 11 of them I did not have yet - and these fit nicely into my quest. I'm guessing that my Santa had done a lot of homework and going back on my postings of coins I put up and picked the best ones for me So, thank you Santa! this gift is hugely appreciated and many thanks to you.. It is interesting to see old booklets on coins at the auction and their prices along with the treasure coins. I am delighted with a 50p coin with Paddington Bear! I understand that is quite difficult to find in circulation. So was the 50p coin with King Charles on it which is the first circulating coin with his likeness. Ah, it is always lovely to have extra crown which is a lot of money back then. Same with a 3d coin, my Dad always told me stories how much money one could buy back in the 1950's, and the 1960's along with my uncles. Especially 1/4d! It is interesting to note that the reverse of a crown is almost identical to the King Charles 50p's reverse. I think it is to show the continuity from Queen Elizabeth to her son, King Charles? Thank you very much for brightening my day today with 50p coins and bringing the memories of old denomination coins, and interesting readings to be had! They even tried to help me in locating the notes I kept for an awesome guy here. We couldn't find them. We decided to get the packet off ASAP. The Elves were happy to take my packet off my hands and they will make sure it will delivered within 7-10 days. The elves will send the notes at after Christmas Day.
