Pertinax,
Wonderful selection! I am not familiar with the magazine. Hope you had fun reading it! Disney card—perhaps your Santa lives near Disneyland?
vermontensium, do we have a latest update on him? I am hoping his house survived the fire! I shall say a wee prayer for him.

Quite humorous letter from your Santa, CelticKnot! Is it possible for the mint to issue such a penny? I always thought they are mostly automated now. Learn something new today.

Lovely gift, Loonie! Hondo Bongus, you are correct about Egypt 5 qirsh coins—nothing is beautiful as Loonie's. Re: stamps, I love Indian Head penny stamps! Always delighted to see old stamps.

And another HUGE thanks to Carringa!! I just got in the mail from him a big package of world coin about 17 it 2x2's and a zip-top baggy of a lather large amount of other world coins!
Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you!! Bravo Zulu Carringa!!
I'll have to set aside some time to go through this and post up some images! (most likely this weekend - If I find time) I need to finish up the Bathroom repairs around the tub/shower surround first. (just got done repairing water damage to walls and drywall - then a re-paint of the room. Last step is to remove old caulk and apply new ..

To my Santa,
I spoke with my dad and my uncle.
Both said that they never saw or used crown as money in their youths. They said 5/- or shillings were a lot of money back then.
Uncle said he remember that 3d would buy a packet of crisps (for Americans chips). Both said it also buy a first class stamp!
Uncle said he loved getting half crown as one could treat to the film or two and have some money left for sweets!
Dad remembers a farthing could buy you two apples or three. Apples are not same as American ones for they are usually smaller.
My uncle also said his first pay packet was £3/10/0.
I was born after £SD was decimalised.
Mum still has a cooking book around time I was born and its price was merely 25p!!!
Thank you for the old coins and it helped me to have a good conversation with my Dad and my uncle.
Hope you have a good start to your New Year!
Kind regards,
Carrigna
