igwt79 Pillar of the Community United States 1478 Posts	Posted 09/25/2024 09:59 am @Liag49 A die chip is a small piece that fell out of the die into which metal flows https://www.error-ref.com/?s=die+chip A lamination (de-lamination), retained lamination, is when a metal flake falls off the coin, usually due to an impurity in the alloy https://www.error-ref.com/?s=retained+lamination On Seeker_101's posted coin, you can clearly see where the metal flake fell or shifted from on the coin northeast of the flake by the rim.
