Their prices really took off after I think they either had a flood or a fire, something like that? Oh, and the pandemic as well I'm sure.
It was a flood. I believe that and the pandemic affected their supply chain, employee retention, etc. That all probably influenced the pricing situation.

I received my Dansco album yesterday which includes "proof only issues." I gotta say, compared to Whitman, I am very impressed with this album. The quality is top notch.
It's also almost like the coins show better in this album for some reason. Could be just me, though.

The last page, which I believe has 18 slots, I'll put to use for storing a few extra coins that there aren't slots for, as well as whatever other little goodies I have, such as my random bank finds of mostly 39 and 40's nickels.

I think I am going to possibly add the proofs from 1960 and up, and that's it. Since there is a little extra space now, I think I will also add additional regular business strikes for 65, 66 and 67. The ones I have now are technically the "SMS." So I'll have all proofs (and SMS) from 1960 and beyond that. I think 1960 is a good round number to start with.

I am supposed to be getting the BU album today, but chances are I'll probably just opt to use this one instead, since I already have so many proof coins. The only ones I really don't have that are actually part of the album itself are the ones from 1980-89.

I think this is the only Dansco album I am going to use, though. For everything else, I'll still use Whitman due to price. I actually have several Whitman albums coming today as well, one for Liberty "V" nickels and the other one a 20th and 21st century Type Set album.

Outstanding!

It is not just you. It is me, too. Some say they like the blue better, and that is fine, but I like the neutral beige.

Good plan!

Nothing wrong with mixing it up!

Thanks! I also had another wonky idea.

I had considered keeping both albums. The proof album will be for all my BU/S proofs, and the second album, which does not include proofs, would work great trying to assemble a different set that is circulated and all from change and bank roll hunting.

I quite like this idea. The only problem with it is the price of the two albums. It cost me a little over 100 dollars for both of them. I can see for a BU/proof album, but for an album that is just being used for assembling a set essentially from change... It might not be worth it. However, I like the look and feel of the business strike only album. It's designed much better than Whitman.

I guess if I could find it somewhere used, it might not be as big of a deal. I haven't looked around much yet.

Thanks! I sure wish I could find them cheaper. That would require an active hunt for them, though. Lol.

And I don't really have the time/energy for that.

Good call, because the time and energy will eat into any savings you find.

I agree. I tried seeing if they had any today that were used at my local coin dealer, but they had zero.

True. I think I would still prefer to keep the albums I already have. Lol.

Much easier honestly. I wish Dansco albums were more widely available.
I tried searching for a Dansco Lincoln Cents album from 1909-2009, and evidently, they aren't made anymore, much like other Dansco albums that used to be available when I was into coin collecting over ten years ago.

For what it is worth, Wizard still lists them. Out of stock, but listed.

I believe Dansco still has a lot of catching up to do!

The Dansco website says they'll be working on cent albums in December. I hope they do the Wheat cents first. Can't find it anywhere.

So I have come to another overpass!
My current Dansco Jefferson album 1938-2005 has 5 pages. If I want to add in the newer Jeffersons, from 2006 and on with no proofs, there is a separate album for them. However, I can also find the single page on ebay and add it to my current album. All ports with mint mark info are contained to one page, the second one being blank.

Dansco albums aren't cheap. I can buy one of these pages for under 20 dollars, compared to spending 30-45 for a new 2006 and onward album, which only has two pages. Kind of a waste of space.

And I would still have room for additional blank pages as well. I think Dansco albums have room for 8 or 9 pages in one binder? Possibly depending on the binder size. I know the binder for the non-proof album isn't as thick as the proof only issue one, so I would tend to think it's a little smaller. The Lincoln Cent 1909-2009 album with proofs I am fairly certain is 9 pages long.

Any thoughts?

Yes, it depends on the binder size. They range from 5/8" (four pages) to 1-1/4" (eight pages, some say nine will fit but I have never tried).

I bought a binder and added blank cents, nickels, and dimes pages to hold the overflow. One big binder is cheaper than three.
