Can Anyone Help Me Match This 1915 Ticket To Collector Or Seller?

daltonista Pillar of the Community United States 1057 Posts	Posted 10/28/2024 5:00 pm Okay, this is admittedly a very long shot as the ticket does not appear to record a particular auction and may in fact have been a "private treaty" acquisition. I have a few in this handwriting, all accompanying tokens in my Regency Period collection. This one appears to indicate a purchase date of 2 March 1915, and a price of five shillings, which would have been way too high for a single common token, suggesting that maybe this was one piece within a larger group or lot. Our only clue as to seller (or auction house) is the "ex-F" at the bottom. Nothing special about the token, an 1813 penny issued by William Baker, a lace and hosiery manufacturer at St. Marysgate in Nottingham. Many thanks in advance for any clues you might have! I just sent Baldwin's a pile of money last month for a half dozen successful bids in their big token sale, so I'm sure they'll be most accommodating! Will post my findings here, if any... "It has not escaped our notice," Tom, that you came to my rescue a year or so ago on my Noble/Format problem concerning the provenance of a unique silver Staffordshire oddity. I will send all three images to Richard Gladdle, Baldwin's resident Paranumismatist, to see if it's possible to further decipher my token's ticket.
