Have I said coin hunting for errors is fun . Here's one I found last night. I am going to call it a "Baby BIE". This is a 2003 Penny. I searched this site for a 2003 Penny BIE and nothing came up for the search. How do you like the name and is this a new BIE (Baby BIE)? Thanks.

Nice find! Cuds on Coins is where you want to search.

Yours is similar to LDB4-2003-001 4CLM but whether it might be an earlier die state than the listed one, I can't say.

It does not look like an earlier die state of 2003-001. There is a small area chipped-out on the OP's coin which is not chipped-out on the -001. The area is circled in the cropped pic below:

Here's as close a photo as possible on my microscope. There does look to be a small crack at the bottom of the die chip. The listed BIE looks like it took a hit on the left side of the die chip?

JC...do you agree with my assessment above that this is not from the same die as 2003-001? Overall the chip is smaller, but parts (circled area) are missing that are not missing on the -001. I think this is a new discovery. I can create an animation between the two if it would be helpful.
