Hello and Happy New Year! Could I have some help confirming the ID of this coin? When I bought it (long ago), it was labeled as a local issue from Mashhad in Iran. I can see a date, AH127X, possibly 1271. I can't decipher the script on the reverse.
Apparently there are a great number of varieties of these local issues. I'm wondering if this particular coin is documented anywhere, how rare it might be. I can't find any similar design, with the bird looking over its shoulder. I've searched Zeno, Numista, KM, and Google image search. Thanks all!
Can anyone read whether it's actually from Mashhad? I'm having trouble deciphering the letters on the reverse. I think the big letter is a final N, to the right of it there may be a medial M, below it I really can't figure those out.
