Also picked for $2.52 on ebay. I do enjoy a nice inexpensive mint error that is visible without magnification, especially on my favorite '76 bicentennial coins.
The collar clash on the obverse is self-explanatory. It extends from the L of Liberty counterclockwise to IGWT. There seems to be a missing section, although maybe that was erased by circulation or die wear.
What I found more unusual was the reverse reeds. The metal is crushed up in a strange pattern in numerous places between the teeth. Is that normal for a quarter of this era? I confess that I am not overly familiar with reeded coin minting, as I tend to focus my efforts on Jefferson nickels. The reverse crumpled reeds seem completely independent of the obverse collar clash.
