CAC - The 1925 Norse Medals celebrated the centennial (100th) anniversary of the voyage aboard the ship Restauration, which carried the first Norwegian immigrants to the United States. The obverse features Leif Erikson, while the reverse features the Restauration. These medals received congressional approval, as noted on the reverse, and were struck at the Philadelphia Mint.

This piece has lovely color, likely originating from an old Wayte Raymond board. Wayte Raymond was a prominent numismatist of the early 20th century who also created an innovative coin storage board. Like many modern-day coin albums, Wayte Raymond albums featured a sliding plastic window that contained the coins. Many coins that have been on these boards for a long time have a distinct look. This piece is graded CAC MS64

That is a beauty.

Many classic commemorative collectors, myself included, consider the Norse medal to be the 51st type coin for a classic silver commemorative type collection.

Very nice Norse! As nickelsearcher, I too include the Norse-American Centennial medal within my set of classic-era US commemorative coins.

What a beauty of a Norse!

@commems, that Wayte Raymond album page brings back memories. The Pony Express medal mentioned there was beautiful and was sure collected along with the Oregon Trail half dollars.
