Oh wow - that is an absolute monster coin from a very short lived rule. Thanks for posting it!
so much imagery to unpack. I see there is yet another small coat of arms tucked away at the bottom of the reverse - on the clouds. The church building and the bishops crook at the saint's left hand, and the 7 stars surrounding St. Bruno's head. He actually looks quite "monkish" in this image with the robes and probable tonsure.
I wonder how much the design choice of the coins was done by the whims of the mint master and how much was dictated from "on high" - to use somewhat religious turn of phrase. Presumably the Pope could have the final say (if he was consulted on everything).
Again, fantastic coin.

Yes - you're right - that would make more sense anyway as it goes along with the crozier.

Some of that imagery is explained by what is known about Bruno's life. As mentioned, he founded a monastic order, and preferred to live the ascetic way of a monk, hence the monk's robes and tonsure. He was offered a bishop's position, but turned it down, hence the miter and crozier lying on the ground / clouds.

I have one coin of Alexander VIII that I need a little help with as it's not on Numista that I can find. I think it's a ND (1689-1690) 1 Quattrino from the Gubbio mint but I'm not entirely sure of the obverse legend (my photography doesn't help) The reverse seems to be SANCTVS . PETRVS . AP . Full-length portrait of Saint Peter, haloed, facing right, holding keys and book. Lettering around

Given his short reign, I didn't think we'd see another Alexander VIII coin I think this is an example with more legible legends (added: NOT my coin; posted for identification): Copyright InAsta Yes, Gubbio, Muntoni 47, and possibly KM# 51, though KM is rather terrible on these. And, as you said, undated (neither a Gregorian date nor a pontifical year).

If we are moving on to Innocent XI I can post this 1685 half Grosso. His coat of arms consists of an eagle, wings displayed, a lion passant left and 6 cups in three lines, 3, 2, 1. Apparently in April 2011 the remains of Innocent XI were moved in St Peter's Basilica to make way for remains of John Paul II.
