Tonight, I encountered a USPS shipping status that I have never seen. My
ebay purchase was shipped normally, passed through a distribution center and multiple waypoints. Then it reached a status of Tendered to Return Agent. The final city is near the origin shipping city. The message on the USPS site reads:
Quote:
Your item has been tendered to the returns agent at 12:43 pm on February 28, 2025 in (city). The Postal Service no longer has the item and no further tracking updates are expected.
The USPS unhelpfully states:
Quote:
Merchants and Parcel Return Service (PRS) reverse logistics providers are about to see new names for well-known scans.
These are the two renamed scans indicating that merchants' reverse logistics providers have picked up return parcels at USPSŪ facilities:
The "17," or "Picked Up by Agent" scan, performed at Return Delivery Units, will be renamed "Tendered to Return Agent."
The "42," or "USPS Handoff to Shipping Partner" scan, performed at Return Sectional Center Facilities, will be renamed "Tendered to Return Agent."
https://about.usps.com/postal-bulle...info_003.htmIs this something I should be concerned about? It seems strange that the post office has handed the package off to some third party, and I will receive no more updates about it.
