Hello everyone, Can you guys help me determine if this gold coin is authentic and what is its market value? Any help/opinion is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
It looks like a Hadrian gold aureus with reverse Jupiter seated holding victory. I found one similar on acsearch.info but the obverse letters don't line up the same behind Hadrian's head and the cloth around the neck is different. If there is a coin store near you or an ancient coin collector that has an XRF metal analyzer that would tell you if it's gold or not.
There are a lot of fake and replica ancient coins. It would be good to find an ancient coin dealer and ask them if it's genuine or send photos to online ancient coin dealers like on Vcoins.com
