Seems like the die was fractured in a most unusual way. Makes the coin more attractive to me. The reverse also seems tired and that is not surprising.

mint state if no one sees wear in the 50.

The die cracks are unusual. Perhaps because it was a pattern the die was tested until destruction.
As for grade, because this coin is a pattern it did not circulate, or should not have. I think it would grade at MS-65.

To CCF! I'll guess MS-65 as well. Very attractive.

Yes it is the same coin. The seller's estimation was MS63. The coin was not slabbed.

I didn't found any other coin in this category. It is the only coin graded by NGC as TOP POP

It's listed in my old (2003 edition) Krause at US$500. I'm not sure how much interest there is in German pattern coins - I imagine it would fetch more in Germany than elsewhere.

The average silver price per ounce in 2003 was 4,8 $.
That means the value of this coin was listed at 105 ounces of silver.
By using todays silver price at 35 $/ounce, the converted value of this coin is 3600$.

Lets check by using gold price....

The average gold price per ounce in 2003 was 360 $.
That means the value of this coin was listed at 1,4 ounces of gold.
By using todays gold price at 2900 $/ounce, the converted value of this coin is 4000$.

My opinion is that if you factor in the rarity and quality of this coin, the estimated price is over $4000. In 125 years, it is the only coin that has appeared in the listings.
