I've got three ancients arriving soon, and I'd like to display them in a box like the one in the attached photo. But after reading a bunch of Amazon reviews, it seems the plastic capsule that the coin sits in (see photo) is too shallow and can't be properly closed on many ancient coins due to their thickness.

So I thought I would still order the box but use a same-size outside diameter capsule that is thicker/deeper. But I'm having a heck of a time finding such a thing. I've found many capsules for sale with various diameters, but they are all designed for modern, thin coins, not thick ancients.

Has anyone found either a replacement capsule I can buy, or an overall different box design I could use?

Sorry @flo that I can't answer your question because I just store mine in 2x2s. I'll move the thread over to our supplies subforum though and hopefully someone will weigh in with an alternate response.

Holy crickets, Batman! Guess I'm not the only one who can't find thicker coin capsules.

You might consider checking into Lighthouse Magic Capsules. They have a flexible membrane vs. defined thickness, and Lighthouse claims they are made to store ancient coins.

Yup! I just bought three of the Lighthouse Magic Capsules. They're not exactly what I was looking for, but they look nice and the coins fit perfectly.
