I checked the production figures for circulating coinage over at the US Mint site and was a little surprised to see that the total mintage for combined P and D 2024 cents is 1.515 billion. It is still a ton of coins but in the context of US production that is quite modest - a level not seen since the late 1950's. One could say in 2009 each of the commemorative Lincoln cents had a lower mintage - that is EACH. Usually around 375,000 thus making them sought after in Au or higher condition and for beginners VF and higher. But even these are not garnering high premiums unless in very high mint state.
Nevertheless, with the mintages for the P and D each running around 570 million it does make the 2024 cent a better date if found in nice AU or higher grade in circulation or purchased in a mint set. And it may be on coin roll hunters search list only because the typical mintage for most cents since the 1970's has averaged about 5 billion, thereby swamping the population of rolls.
Something to consider.

The 2024 Nickels are the low mintage for that year.

Thanks for fixing the topic title. Sorry for the omission.
I would never say the 2024 nickels are a low mintage but in context of mintages for nickels in the past two decades it is much lower than usual. The problem is everyone is hoarding the nickels due to the publicity, yet if one tries to find 2024 cents uncirculated, it is harder than usual to find these - I have yet to come across a fresh bank roll of uncirculated 2024 cents.
As the mint set a limit on sales of the 2024 mint set to 190,000 and when I checked a few days about 175,000 have been sold, I think it would be wise to get a set or two if you collect US circulating coinage. You will then get the nickel and cent.

1.5 billion is plenty to satisfy collector demand. The difficult part is finding the top 1% of those worthy of saving. Shield cents suck, the water stains are particularly annoying to me. I only have maybe 4-5 shied cents in my collection, I just never cared for them. The memorial series is FAR more interesting, especially with regard to varieties. For me, the shield varieties are a snooze fest.

Remember, we are still in March for 2025, these are probably February figures and thus way to early to draw any conclusions... but in just two months, they minted 2.5x as many nickels as all of last year. https://www.usmint.gov/about/produc...s-productionDenomination Denver Philadelphia Total
