They are air-resistant, but not airtight. Airtite capsules are not airtight either, despite the name.
Oxygen, like water, will always find a way, eventually.
But for practical purposes in terms of toning prevention, a slab should be adequate, so long as the slabs themselves aren't stored in adverse conditions (like in a humid basement).
