Finally saw an 81-S MS66 for sale but it was $375 I'll probably have to settle for a MS65. That's a little far out of my comfort level. PCGS price guide shows MS66 for $500 but MS65 for $42. Big price jump for sure.

Quote: ICG 81-S MS66+ at $341 Yikes. I've looked at ICG coins just for cracking out to put in an album but people still want crazy prices for them. To me, I just don't trust their grading. I've heard them referred to as ICG = "I Can't Grade" You might get lucky and it would crossover to PCGS or NGC but then that's an added expense and no guarantee it would. Might be better off listing it on ebay and see if you get any takers if you're wanting to get rid of it. I decided early on to go with PCGS and I won't even consider any of the other grading companies for my SBA's. The holders have to be all consistent or it would drive me nuts if they weren't.

I was going with all my SBA with NGC holders, but got a few PCGS because they were cheaper in price... Before I sell the ICG coin, I would first need to pick one up in NGC, PCGS, or even in a CAC slab... I've seen and have some NGC and PCGS that you would say are off with the grade, so don't just pick on ICG...

Very nice seamonkey, I also had to buy my 1980-S in an MS66 rating. The only 1980-S MS67 I see is on an ICG slab asking $390...

seamonkey5150, you're almost there! I'm not a fan of SBA dollars (Carter Quarters.), but, that is a nice looking collection of proofs and mint state coins. Give proof Jefferson nickels from 1938-1942 and 1950-1964 a try. They make a fun set to work on graded.

I'm debating on getting this 1981 P SBA its MS65 which normally I'm trying to find MS66 grade ones but I haven't found any for sale. Despite being a grade lower I think it still looks good and better than some other MS65 graded ones I've seen. Decisions, Decisions...
