Back when gold was around $2000, I dreamed a long term target might be the round number of $3100. With gold at $3100/oz, it would be simple for the jeweler trade to remember $100/gm for 24kt, $75/gm for 18kt. 59/gm for 14kt would be an odd number but with gold being so expensive, they might just skip 14kt and make a new standard of 12kt at $50/gm.
And here we are, just a year later and gold has zoomed to 104/gm.
