It looks like it was an Encased Coin at some point.

Yes, appears to show 'old' encased features. A couple close-in, end-on pics of the rim could tell us more. Thanks.

It looks like the reverse center area is concave and the obverse side is convex to me. Is it?

Also not sure if it was encased - the only area in question to me would be on the reverse at K-3 to K-5 - but that looks to be the only part on the rim that is raised and normal, the rest looks very worn down.
