American Numismatic Society - The Roman Republic issued its first gold coinage in a time of crisis during the Second Punic War. Jeremy Haag (scientist and independent numismatic researcher) will discuss the context of the Janus / oath scene gold issue and results from a preliminary RRC 28/2 die study. Focus will then be turned to an example of this issue in the John Max Wulfing Collection at Washington University in St. Louis, and work is underway using RRDP and other records to reconstruct its lost pedigree and entry into the Collection.
