Well done, some excellent research here.

I wonder why it was called Alexandra - is there a place named Alexandra in Montreal?

Not today, though the main pier in Montreal for cruise ships used to be called the Alexandra Pier, which may be a relic of an older name for the district nearby. https://www.port-montreal.com/en/grand-quay

So I received the following automated reply when I sent a note to the McCord-Stewart collections department. After looking into all of the museums in the Montreal area I think this is definitely the right place for it.

I'll see if they can't make an exception for this small piece, or if they have another idea of where it could be placed in the area. If all else fails then I'll try again when the moratorium is lifted.
___

The Museum has placed a two-year moratorium on acquisitions, effective June 11, 2025.

During this hiatus, the institution will undertake critical collection management tasks: reviewing its policies, reorganizing its storage spaces and processing uncatalogued archival holdings. If you wish to donate objects or documents, please contact us at the end of the moratorium.

Thank you for your understanding.
