I am considering purchasing this piece. It is an LC-31B that has been broadstruck, i.e. struck without a collar. What would be a fair price?

Gene - I think these are tough to price, and I am pretty low on the learning curve for tokens. That said, as a comparison I paid about double the normal price for this 1858 cent that PCGS called broadstruck (slightly off center). Although, this one may still have had an intact collar. Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob. I remember that auction - I was the underbidder. Congrats.

My searches found several decimal broadstrikes and all sold for 2x to 3x the standard coin. The seller is asking $300 US for the token which is about 3x catalogue. I am leaning towards buying it.

How long do you think it will be until you encounter another one, and do you think it will be less expensive then?

Gene, if you like the token and you are ok with the evaluation then pull the trigger and add it to your collection before someone else comes along and buys it.
