commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12263 Posts	Posted 06/13/2025 07:43 am The 2007 Little Rock Central High School Desegregation Silver Dollar was struck "in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the desegregation of the Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas." The desegregation came via nine African-American students who voluntarily agreed to integrate the High School in the face of significant personal hardship and sacrifice. The students' first full day in school was September 25, 1957. 2007 Little Rock Silver Dollar Years earlier, in 1998, the US Congress awarded a Congressional Gold Medal to each of the "Little Rock Nine" students; bronze duplicates were struck and made available to the general public. 1998 Little Rock Nine Congressional Gold Medal (Reduced-Size Bronze Duplicate) Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! Surcharges collected from sales of the 2024 Harriet Tubman Birth Bicentennial Gold Half Eagle, Silver Dollar and Copper-Nickel (CuNi) Clad Half Dollar commemorative coins were designated to support "the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, and The Harriet Tubman Home, Inc. in Auburn, New York, for the purpose of accomplishing and advancing their missions."
