I've tried reporting obvious counterfeit coins to ebay before, but have been discouraged when almost every one of them has been left up by ebay. However, in the past week or so I've noticed an uptick in the number of obvious counterfeits, all of which are being listed with identical images from different users with low feedback (all overseas) and listed for absurdly small amounts if they were real. I'm only bothering to report it now because all of a sudden up to half of the results on an ebay search page is taken up by these counterfeits. I've tried reporting individual items on their listing page, but every time I just get "Report submission failed" with no explanation. So I went to ebay's customer service and tried reporting the users themselves, and instead I get the error "We ran into a problem. Please try again later.". I can't seem to report any of these items or their sellers! Has anyone had this happen before or knows how to fix this issue? The usernames I tried reporting for this are: Iiuhui1 zenmodehuamian xingqidewnagyou aiugaiu2 buhuishiquni (Thanks to ebay's font, I don't know if the first letter of the first name is a lowercase "L" or an uppercase "i".) Incidentally, the last straw for me was seeing a listing for an 1838-O half dollar for $35.58. For those who don't know, the 1838-O is one of the rarest half dollars in existence, famously having a mintage of just 20 pieces, and which is impossible to obtain for less than 6 figures. And this seller has 5 available!

ebay just doesn't care. As long as they are getting their commission they're content to let sellers list fraudulent items. One thing that really chaps me is that many of these are sponsored listings. The seller pays an extra fee and their items show up at the top of search results.

ebay is a 2025 Wild West Show! Back in the 90's (when ebay started) it was "the empty box shipping scam". Then came bogus tracking numbers and Sellers shipping something entirely different from what was sold. You could also leave honest Feedback for questionable Sellers and Buyers. Feedback doesn't mean diddly squat anymore. Some of the most recent coin scams now appear to be pictures of genuine coins but the stuff being shipped will be the counterfeit stuff they've been making for years. All from new Sellers based in China. ebay just doesn't care anymore so they refuse to pull obvious fraudulent listings. It's sad.

@rei, I'm sorry that you are having trouble with ebay. For many years, CCF had a way to help with this fight ( https://goccf.com/f/160), but sadly that door has also closed. You should consider bringing your business elsewhere.

I can't make reports from my PC either. I can make reports from ebay's mobile app on my phone.

Bottom line is ebay doesn't care anymore! It's just a free-for-all and pretty much anything goes! As others have said, just try to take your "bizness" elsewhere.

Again, ebay does not care. It is a waste of time to report listings with obvious counterfeit being sold. We are back to the early days when ebay touted itself as "just a venue" when the onus was on the Buyer to do due diligence before bidding or hitting the buy button. ebay is what it is and it'll be that way till it eventually dies.
