Okay, I don't know how rare it is. I happened to find a "used" Dansco Buffalo nickel album that doesn't have spaces for the die varieties like the 3 legged buffalo and the 1918/D? or something like that? I would much prefer this if I was to purchase a Buffalo nickel album. However... The price isn't cheap at all. It's in the range what it would cost for a new album. These are stopper coins for me, though, and I would definitely prefer the album without them. Is it worth it to go for something like this? I hate the fact that there aren't any returns, either. It has some wear evidently. Any advice? Should I purchase? Or just purchase a new one and fill in the spots with something else?

Tough choice. Not having those "spendy" holes might be worth it, as long as the album is in good shape. A little wear is okay, but how much to too much? For what it is worth, I put my Buffalo nickels in two blank nickel pages. They are in an album with two blank cent pages for Indian Head cents and two blank dime pages for Mercury Head dimes. The idea of two page albums always bothered me.

Yeah, I'm not going to do it. I don't like two page albums either. It honestly seems like more of a waste than anything. At least throw a third blank page in there.

You probably made the right call. I can see how tempting it was, as a fellow "hater" of the expensive variety holes! I still wish I did not have to get something for that 1922 "Plain" hole in my Dansco 8100.

Yes. I do dislike the "stopper" holes. Yeah, same here. I threw a 1927 in there for the time being.
There's 5 expensive empty spots in my 7100 album, one of them being the 22 plain. At some point, I'll probably get the 1909-S, 31-S, and possibly the 14-D. Outside of that, I won't be purchasing anything that expensive.
That said, I've seen some people that just throw blank planchets in there. That kind of makes sense.

Quote: I'll probably get the 1909-S, 31-S, and possibly the 14-D Looking back, those were relatively easy. I bought all three raw. The 09SVDB and 22 Plain holes will have to come from cracked slabs. Quote: The idea of two page albums always bothered me. The "V" Nickel is a 1 page album! Quite some time back I grabbed a V nickel Dansco with quite a few decent coins in it for about $15. Came with a 2nd page that isn't needed for the set, so I took it out and flipped it over and used it in a Jefferson Dansco. I don't really collect V nickels, it was just too cheap to pass on....

Crazy! That's a lot! jbuck, I currently am keeping my Buffalo nickels in the Dansco 2x2 coin stock book. I might go for a plain nickel album, this way, I can use the two pages for Buffalo nickels, and add in the Liberty nickels as well, and still have room for other things if I want. It's a four page album. I'm actually thinking this might be a good way to go, and using my Dansco 2x2 book for just dollar coins in all various sizes, such as Sacagawea, SBA, and of course, your favorite, Eisenhower dollars. This way, I can have an entire album for dollars, since they come in various sizes, whereas most other coins such as nickels, cents, quarters, etc, are all the same size so generally will fit inside the same album.

Me too! Only problem is.. Once I get them out of the 2x2's, many of the Buffalo nickels.... I'm not gonna be entirely sure what they are unless I put them in the proper slots or label them somehow. Lol. Most of my Buffalo nickels are acid treated, so they don't have a year or mint mark.

Thanks! I'll take a look at that.
I'm not sure which way I wanna go about labeling anything, if at all.
