Hi All, Name is Charlie and live in US. I have a few questions and thought this would be the place for honest answers. When my grand daughter was born 3 years ago I signed at US mint for subscription plan on Liberty, Peace, and Morgan silver dollars. they are sent to her house in her name. Why does mint 2025 price charge $91 and I see on TV and internet for as low as $40, both first strike issue. Next I buy 5oz bars of silver couple times a year. Always get one with some kind of design on them. She thinks they are pretty. will they be just worth melt in 20 years? How about rounds? Started this because she has 2 grand mothers plus mom for clothes. Same with toys except dad might be worse for toys. LOL

If you ask this question(s) on the discussion forums instead of the Introduction forum you will get more looks and a wider range of answers to help you.

Hello and welcome.

If a TV marketeer is selling coins for way under RRP, what I suspect you're seeing here is a "loss leader" - the TV company is deliberately making a loss (or not making as much profit as they could) on those coins, in the hope of sucking you in and trapping you in a contract to keep buying more coins from them, for a much higher price.

Bullion rounds and ingots have a much smaller "collector base" than coins - most people who buy and sell bullion rounds and ingots are just buying the silver and don't care about the design. So while at some future point there might be people out there who will pay a premium for certain designs, you will likely find it difficult to find those people. If you are just paying silver price for them, all well and good (unless the price of silver collapses). If you yourself are paying a premium for them, then just appreciate them for the artwork and don't stress about future resale value.

@cm73162 - - from far over your northern border. .

Most rounds and silver bars will be worth melt value whenever you sell them. Dealers would probably offer you less than melt.
