Hello everyone,

New here on the forum . I recently obtained some coins and would like to know if the PCGS holders are authentic.

Part 1: 1908 No Motto and 1924 PCGS MS64 $20

The first two coins are 1924 and 1908 $20 coins. I checked and the front and reverse barcode both scan to the same category of coin and same certificate number on the PCGS app. My reason for asking whether the holders are authentic is because on the front, the certificate number is touching the barcode which is something I have not seen being done by PCGS. Also, I tested with the Sigma tester and they both pass the test. The serial number at the bottom of the slabs also match suggesting maybe these were submitted together.

If anyone has seen whether or not PCGS prints labels with numbers touching the barcode; it would help alot if you could post pictures where barcode and the numbers touch. I reached out to PCGS and they will do a free check but I have to send them the coins. Problem is I'll have to pay for shipping. I emailed them and asked them if this format has been used by PCGS and I have not received a reply.

Part 2: 1908 PCGS MS64 No Motto Rough Rider Hoard $20

In this part, I am curious about 2 things: (i) The PCGS on the reverse, the golden/brown color in the G and the line running along PCGS is a different shade on the two holders and (ii) The '1908' on the coin cert #82476818 is slanted. Is this normal?

I can't answer your question, but those are impressive $20 coins.

PCGS will do custom labels for anyone spending enough money... There were reportedly 2000 coins that were clearly slabbed in batches.

Web search will find a bunch of other hits.

I think what you are seeing is the OSH Gen 6 vs Gen 6.1 with the 2022 hologram change.
