I read somewhere that some of the dollars put in Cheerios boxes were just the run of the mill Sacagawea dollars.

Quote: Were there Cheerios dollar in original wrapping that did not have the detailed/accented tail feathers? Yes there were. From smalldollar.com: "When purchasing a "Cheerios Dollar" still in its original holder, it would prudent to remember that not all "Cheerios Dollars" are the "Reverse of 1999" pattern."

So you look for that obv. die marker in this original packaging and you will know you have a real Cheerios dollar.

Knew about the enhanced tail feathers but the obverse polish marks are new to me. Thanks for the info.
