Wow, here's another diamond in the rough story: made a great buy on ebay last month! (July 2>auction end=on item # 110395366177) I purchased (won) a raw 1941 quarter for $17.00 Can$
After receiving the coin, it was submitted to I.C.C.S. and it cam back an MS-65.

My two best finds of the past year:

Paid $5 for this out of a $5 junk type box. Unlike many of the other posts in this thread, I had NO IDEA what I had until I got home! I only bought it because despite the holes, I just liked the look of it for $5.

1854-O Seated quarter "Huge O" Variety. $1,000 in Good. Got $245 for it.

A few weeks later, for seven cents out of a "common" Wheaties box:

1926d Lincoln. Notoriously badly struck, this one was beautiful! Sold for $114 on the 'Bay. Pretty good for seven cents!

Nice buy Papeldog! Large cents you purchased for a song are gorgeous with tons of eye appeal and a sure investment, especially at the prices you bought 'em for! Nice to here another success story.

I bought this a couple of years ago off an E-bay listing with a bad photo. I think I paid about $60 or $70 for it.

One more. I bought this coin raw off E-bay about four years ago for $300. The only reason I didn't get it for $30 was that one other bidder recognized it for what it is. Now in a PCGS 63RB holder.

The best cherry pick story I have ever heard on a Canadian coin comes from the Belzberg collection. Sid bought a 1906 small crown 25 cent piece raw off a German E-bay listing for about $800. It ended up in his collection in a PCGS MS-62 holder.

papeldog - It's an SDLL variety and an AU coin. Still a steal. Cheers.

It's a 1884 obv 1 large cent, this is the second one I've found this year and this was the most expensive one so far out of the 4 that I have. So keep your eyes open they are still being found.

I picked up 5 $25.00 boxes of mixed BU Canadian cents for face value. The earliest date so far from the rolls I have opened is 1957 and the latest date is 1963. Here is what was found in one roll I opened.
