*** Edited by Staff to Add Year and/or Mintmark and/or Denomination to Title. It's essential to have it in the title. ***

I found an imprint on the obverse of my George Rogers Clark quarter. I am not sure what it is and if it occured during the minting process or after. Any ideas would be welcome.

To CCF! Looks like something is on the coin, like glue or epoxy. It's not an error. A pure acetone soak should take it off.

@bar, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes it looks like this quarter was glued to a piece of newsprint or other colored paper, which is still now partially attached. This didn't happen at the mint though and isn't an error.

Agree--looks like an accumulation of crud. Yes, suggest giving the coin a long soak in 100% acetone--may eliminate or reduce the issue.

Great suggestion. After your post I looked at it in that "light" and now believe it was a glue add-on. Thanks for your help and welcome.
