The obverse is beautiful, but the eagle is doing some serious contortions. I'm not sure what it's doing with the left wing.

I agree. It is a very artistic representation of an eagle. The head/center of the coin, if someone just showed me that area and it was an unfinished design, I'd be pretty excited. Been then it turned into something like, IDK, a bald eagle morphing into Zorro? Like it's wings are becoming a cape? It's very artistic, I don't outright hate it, but if I was the mint, I'd be asking for options from the artist. Think "natural beauty", not "fantasy".
The obverse. Nice, again very natural and artistic. I just don't see how it ties in to the concept of Liberty. Same with the Bristlecone Pine for that matter.
And if I did want to buy in to this program, I'd want to probably go silver, and these artistic designs look way better in high relief. So tell me again why they can't do high relief silver medals?

The more I think about it, the more I want it. But that price tag.

It probably saw the price the Mint is selling these for!

They can and they have. 2019 2.5oz High Relief Silver Medal is an example.

I have that one, bought direct in 2019. It is a nice hunk of metal.

How come the previous 2023 high relief gold is not shown on the 2023 page? It was Aug 10th.
