A bit past AU, some jaw flattening. Also a good bit of flattening of the wheat grains and lines. The TPG's seem to be more generous than I with the 31S's but I like it as a VF-35, 40 with good eye appeal.

Well, not only did PCGS over grade it a bit but they also detailed it. I'm guessing for the thin line scratches on the obverse?.

Which "Scratch" was the one that detailed this coin? Maybe them all together?

Looks better at a distance. I hate that they started slabbing details coins.

True - but look at all the money they are making instead of returning the coins. The guy who came up with the "Details" grade is a genius -

A details slab is token gesture to the submitter for the pain endured. I prefer the old flip return like they used to do, those slabs are a PITA to open.

I think they also do it in hopes that the coin stays in a slab. At least with a key you know it's genuine!
