There was no lack of offerings on the medals and other exonumia front when the Bicentennial occured in 1976. Many of those have been shared in this forum's various threads. On-line marketplaces haven't run out of folks looking to sell these keepsakes from 50 years ago. Some of the Bicentennial items in my collection were acquired after seeing examples posted in the CCF; the American Freedom Train medal is one example -- commems' 2022 thread spurred me on: https://goccf.com/t/418086I suppose medals are going the way of the Dodo Bird, but I remain interested in them. Next year might bring a few examples worth consideration. If I come across anything, I'll share it in this thread. Have you seen any items of interest slated for next year's 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence ? Thanks. " Even a clock that's stopped is right twice a day. "

I would be surprised of there were not multiple entities ready to take advantage of the celebration.

Quote: The 2024 Flowing Hair Medal is a nice piece. Yes it is. I would not consider it an issue in support of or related to the Semiquincentennial.

One possibility for medal collectors: The "Best of the Mint" series next year includes "companion silver medals" with each of the cold coins, per the USM press releases. The mint's initial press release, in part, reads: Quote: In addition to releasing newly designed circulating coins in 2026, the U.S. Mint will issue five special Best of the Mint numismatic coin and medal sets as part of this journey through history. Will hope the mint offers the silver medals as stand-alone SKUs.

Quote: Will hope the mint offers the silver medals as stand-alone SKUs. I agree, although I do like a good coin and medal set.

I emailed the Mint today to ask if the Best of the Mint companion medals would be available separately from the 24K gold coins. Here's the response: Quote: Thank you for your inquiry to the United States Mint regarding the Semiquincentennial Coins and Medals. We apologize for any inconvenience, but the product information for these items has not yet been released. For more information about the items being offered during this celebration, please see the following page. I deleted the hyperlink at "following page" - it's the SQ Coins & Medals "landing page". Just have to take my patience pills.

Interesting. The upshot of 'no' is less money I will need to spend.

Thank you jbuck, Dearborn, and nickelsearcher. As jbuck suggested last August, there are multiple entities ready to provide "keepsakes" of the SQ. Most of it appears to be challenge coin / token sized, as the example I posted. Many colorized examples out there. I've seen customizable offerings too; those start around $20 and allow you to add a name, slogan, or other text, e.g, "Jones Family." Eventually, I'll find a souvenir I like well enough to get one each for my grandchildren. . . @Dearborn: Most of what I've seen on Etsy, ebay, and Amazon comes from China. . .I've found one domestic outfit doing these. It's the successor to Northwest Territorial Mint, now operating out of Dayton, NV, about 30 miles from my home, as "Ranger Industries, LLC." There may be other domestic sources.
