Oh, wow, Marve65, that's a weird-looking one, never seen one with just a tube as the camera. How do you focus this thing? Looks very Modern..

Quote: . How do you focus this thing? Looks very Modern.. It took me a day to get used to it - now I really like it! Up top on the tube is an adjuster - and of course the Big knobs are adjusters also. I like it as it shows true colors of the coin without a program that you have to adjust! It downloads right into your windows program and works of of the "Camera" setting.

Got the scope today. It looks really nice! I will have to wait until the weekend to try it out with my laptop. I also ordered a little adapter so I can use it with my iPad.
Many thanks for the excellent equipment! =)

Well? A follow up would be nice. Did you receive it?

Sure thing! As mentioned above, the microscope arrived on the 24th. I am still waiting on a part from Amazon for my laptop so I can connect it. The part was supposed to arrive on Saturday, but it now shows as Wednesday. There's a different adapter in the shipment that would allow it to connect to my iPad, too.

Well, the parts shipment arrived today. The USB-to-iPad connector was a bust. I will work on the laptop tonight and tomorrow, and hopefully have better results.

Finally, some success. I was able to connect up the microscope to a work laptop. The image looks good! =)
Unfortunately, my home MacBook Pro has advanced to the white screen of death. It's pretty old, but it had been a trooper for many years. I had hoped that redoing the heat sink would keep it trudging along, but now I'm not even hearing the hard drive spin up. R.I.P. good ol' MacBook, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
In the last few days, I have done a bunch of reading about connecting USB microscopes to iPads. My gen 9 is the last iPad with a Lightning port before Apple switched to USB C. Even with a USB A to Lightning adapter, the two apps recommended by Plugable (Cam X and USB Camera) will not read the scope. They are apparently only designed with USB C compatibility. I do plan on testing the scope with an iPhone later this week. Already have the USB A-to-C connector for that.
Anyway, the demise of my poor MacBook will accelerate the conversion of a hand-me-down Windows 10 laptop to Linux. That will be my long term typing solution again, and my microscope station with the Cheese app.

After several weeks of delays, I finally got around to working on my Linux laptop project again. It is now up and running the latest version of Linux Mint. The Cheese app works great with the USB microscope. Obviously I have some learning and practice to do on the lighting, image settings, and image editing. But this will now join the tools on my coin desk. Thanks again, Marve! =)
