HoHoHo Santa Claus left a package in my mailbox today!
I enjoyed the presents! Taffy candies are funny but I will enjoy them with my Dad. We used to eat them whenever we were at the beach.
Thailand 100 baht note is a cool addition to my collection! I do not have a current monarch on any currency until today!
Japanese colonial 5 peso note in Philippines, it wrecked the monetary system there during the Second World War if I remember rightly. It took them a while to restore the currency to normalcy.
1861 is the year the US civil war started. Terrible time! We did issue a silver 5 cent coin known as
Half Dime. Very small coin. This is why many foreigners thought we are silly for having a nickel being bigger than our dime, size-wise that is. I always have to explain to them we did it right until the nickel industry got the Congress to buy their metal. They were not aware our
Half Dime is just half size of dime, just barely! Happy to add this coin to my collection. Plus it is a good luck if we were to go by size of silver 3d coin! We used to put it in our Christmas pudding! We have many relatives from abroad. One auntie always asked which is 5 cents and which is 10 cents. Back home, our coins are sized accordingly to their denomination.
Oh, yes! I do remember the People Power in Philippines back in 1986! That and hundreds of shoe pairs on TV owned by First Lady Marcos! It would make a lovely addition to my Philippines coin collection, I think I am nearly done with this country, not there yet!
A huge coin! I do hope the country will find the hope and better future again, they rightly deserve! Please thank your wife, Ms. Claus, for sharing her childhood memories with me. It does add a personal touch to this coin!
This coin from Palembang called pitis, I never heard about them before, you certainly give me something to research about! Thank you for that!
I would have to research what is a challenge coin. I do appreciate you sharing your memories of Japan! Curry! I still remember my uncle making one for us which left a strong smell in our kitchen which my mum was not pleased about. I think it took few days for the smell to be gone.
I thank you for this wonderful addition to my collection, Mr. Claus!
Only that I would say that you shouldn't have worried about selling or trading your pressies! I would like to point out that it would be a good idea to use a different PVC coin flip (forgot what it is called) as the
Half Dime comes in flip known as soft PVC which is a big no-no in the
Coin World, which I was told? I had to replace all of my coin flips!
Wish you and yours a very blessed and happy Christmas & the best wishes for the New Year!
