Nice gifts all around! I especially like that Japanese 5 peso note. I may have to look into those.

Spru, The Japanese occupation currency is pretty interesting. Several years ago, for a CCF Secret Santa gift, I assembled a pair of these occupation currency notes from the Philippines - one Japanese printed original and a second OSS printed counterfeit. The OSS counterfeited the notes using a stock of the original Japanese paper and provided them to the underground rebels fighting the Japanese. The counterfeit notes also served to undermine the general confidence in the Japanese issued occupation currency. It is possible to find the OSS counterfeit notes in foreign paper boxes at shows with a careful look at the identifying markers.

Got a sealed 1915 "Germany's Flying Circus" set of German 1/2 and 1 Mark silver coins. Those are my first coin for this year in those denominations, let alone a sealed box with some history! Up next I got 5 Austrian Empire coins, including a silver 10 Kreuzer. Some new dates for me and significant upgrades in condition! Also 3 (very nice condition) UK coins were included, none of which I had the types of. 1895 farthing, 1866 farthing, and 1888 half penny. And finally the coins that I will need to do some research on. Manchukuo China coins. From a quick search, Manchukuo was a Japanese puppet state founded in 1932 in parts of China and Mongolia. Interesting!! Thank you for the very generous gift!!!!
