A lot of times, I see posts showing a very obvious error. Replies always say 'send that in for grading'. Well, when the grading company does not recognize that error/variety, what good does it do to have the coin graded? For instance, the American Women series of quarters has a lot of errors, but no one (PCGS, NGC, or ANACS) recognizes/attributes them! So, how do you get an error attributed and recognized?

TPG's will recognize real errors (off center, rotated dies, split planchet, wrong planchet, etc.) "IF" one pays the extra for the attribution. Alot of times I see new members think they have errors but in actuality they have a damaged coin or die event, such as a die crack or die chip.

ANACS and ICG will -generally- recognize anything you can find in a reference book/site. Reach out to customer service to confirm.

However, certified errors rarely earn back the certification costs.

Are you talking about mint errors? Or mechanical errors on the certification labels?

Die cracks, chips, Cuds, etc are minor mint varieties.

Here at CCF, I mostly see this recommendation when the OP won't listen to us tell them that they actually don't have an error but damage instead.
