Do acided coins get slabbed in PCGS?

I have an acid treated 1885 S dime that has the entire surfaces covered in dark grey acid color. I heard that it doesn't get slabbed but also at the same time it does get slabbed. I'm a little confused so I just want to be sure on that. I'm aware that it's not going to get a straight grade but I definitely want a key date dime to be slabbed anyway.

I believe the answers are:

Will they get straight-graded? No, they shouldn't be. Acid-treated coins usually have a porous surface, which prevents them from being given a straight grade.

Will they get put in a slab and given a details grade? Yes, they should - unless the acid damage is so severe they are unable to verify authenticity.

On the PCGS submission form, you can indicate whether you want a genuine details coin to be holdered or not. I believe the default is to holder it, which would confirm authenticity.

I've seen some acid treated Buffalo nickels slabbed before but I can't remember if it was PCGS though.

Well, seems they do...........Pcgs, NGC, and ANACS. (No mention of CAC, article was probably before their existance)

"Many do not understand that PCGS, NGC and ANACS will encapsulate these coins and attribute varieties."
