I'd not seen that Austrian 2 groschen before, Odd devices for Austria, more Swiss-like. Interesting. On the Irish series, the designer was better known for some of his more strongly influenced Art Deco medals, which is why I brought it up. I agree they (the coins) are not as clearly Art Deco in style as other items posted, yet I find the representation of the animals somewhere between realistic and the more highly stylized Art Deco look.

I don't see any art deco coins by Percy Metcalfe at a quick search. Could you share some?

I found this French one in my collection. This design has a lot that I would describe as Art Deco.

Yes, those all look Art Deco to me. The 70s 10 Francs only have an art deco design on the obverse, and the Vichy coins have subtle art deco designs present in the stylised wheat, similar to earlier French coin designs. The Austria ones are very Art Deco influenced. I did not show both sides of my example of the later Republik 10 Groschen, but they are both quite fitting. The font on the 2 Groschen coin, as well as the numeral design, make it really attractive to me.

There were coins in general circulation in the Dominican Republic depicting Faro A Colon, the Lighthouse of Columbus. An Art Deco-Indigenous combination architectural mega structure which took about 60 years after being conceived to actually be constructed. The lighthouse projects a giant Christian cross into the sky to represent the arrival of Christianity to America. When this coin was minted, it still had not been completed. The project was funded by several North and South American countries, and funded through the sale of stamps depicting the lighthouse which were sold all throughout the Americas at the time. The Dominican government claims the lighthouse contains the remains of Christopher Columbus, but they have refused DNA testing. The lighthouse opened in 1992.
