According to APMEX: Quote: Silver Rallies, Then Reverses Sharply
Precious metal prices soared over the past week during sessions marked by thin liquidity amid global holiday closures. China led a powerful rally in physical silver over Christmas, and Western futures markets were forced to catch up when trading resumed on Friday. In early trading Monday, the rally continued, with silver surging to a new high of $84.03 before quickly reversing. Shortly after breaching this new level, intense selling pressure drove prices down more than 8% as short covering into illiquid conditions and forced liquidation from margin calls appeared to subside.
Market watchers are closely tracking one of the largest intraday swings in silver's history following Friday's dramatic repricing. Silver bulls are using this pullback as an opportunity to buy the dip, while silver bears are locking in profits after the parabolic move.

Paper trading is taking out the leveraged buyers. This week will be a wild volatility ride. China has an export ban going on the books Jan 1, 2026. Will be a quite a rollercoaster ride, but the industrial users still need actual delivery.

March 1980 . Kaboom #1 April 2011...Kaboom #2 January 2026 .Kaboom #3 ? The driving factor in huge run ups is invariably the fear of missing out on huge profits . Having been in the coin business since 1979 , I have seen it all . One certainty that involves money . Greed Kills !

I kept saying that the market would correct itself at some point - now, how long will it last?

A correction or a struggle between players and the industries that actually need silver?

Why do people believe that industry would pay double or triple the price for silver? I doubt that expectation is reality based.
Question that should be asked was where is industrial use of silver irreplaceable with some cheaper material? What fraction of the total use is irreplaceable?

Started a silver etf long position 8.6% back of last Fridays close. Tried buying physical but it is annoyingly difficult, the premiums are sky high and I don't want to break my back loading it onto my truck when who knows what people with what intentions are watching me. Paper market is it for me. At least for now. I don't expect to eat or pay my bills using silver.

Quote: Question that should be asked was where is industrial use of silver irreplaceable with some cheaper material? What fraction of the total use is irreplaceable? Data center, solar panel, electric vehicle, space technology applications are increasing. These are modern, novel applications increasing industrial demand. AI answer: Silver is the best natural conductor of electricity, followed closely by copper and gold, due to its unique atomic structure allowing for extremely free-moving electrons, but its high cost and tendency to tarnish often make copper the practical choice for most wiring, while gold offers superior corrosion resistance for specialized contacts. Why Silver is Best Free Electrons: Silver has a single valence electron that moves with minimal resistance, enabling high conductivity. High Efficiency: It conducts electricity and heat more efficiently than any other element, with conductivity set as the benchmark (100%). Why Other Metals Are Used Copper: Cheaper than silver, easy to work with, and offers excellent conductivity (around 97% of silver's), making it the standard for household wiring and electronics. Gold: Resists corrosion and tarnishing exceptionally well, making it ideal for critical contacts and connectors where reliability is paramount, even though it's less conductive than silver or copper. In Summary While silver is the theoretical best, cost and practicality dictate that copper is the workhorse for everyday electrical needs, with gold used for high-reliability components, and silver reserved for specialized applications like high-frequency circuits or aerospace where superior performance justifies the expense.

i don't think the bankers (and other various big players) were enjoying the squeeze or $80 silver. this seems more than a bit of a correction. will retail silver prices reflect that drop? doubtful. now we have to re-cheer for $80 on the way back up toward $90. it'll still get there. they haven't done anything except delay the inevitable, just like what they've been doing since at least 2008. they probably have dozens and dozens of ways throughout their schemes & scams to monkeyhammer & manipulate the prices while they make millions and billions of dollars instantly and we have just one way to approach our metal 'investment': buy and hold for as long as possible as our real money ekes-out small, incremental gains... and wait, and wait, and wait... weeks and weeks and months... Quote: Silver has dropped to levels not seen since Friday! heh... you cheeky devil!... I thought the same thing. I scrolled back on a chart to see when it was that silver crossed the $70-mark. it's only been several days. still, look at where silver was at the beginning of the year. even if silver ends 2025 at $70, or even $60, that is still a hefty gain for the year. patience pays. the 'volatility' is going to be unrelenting. speaking of that, while we're waiting for $80 again, on the way back up toward $90, a word of caution- a public service announcement, if you like- from your friends at First Pink Savings re: the preponderance of silver videos on you tube, most notably the 'asian guy' videos. they've exploded in number. you know the ones, I think it's been mentioned in another thread, or maybe it was here several pages ago. silver is really being pumped hard, which is concerning. I don't watch them. I don't get my silver info from those videos nor do I make decisions based on what I heard from those videos, or any others. they make a lot of bold claims that are simply not true. you can tell by the graphics on the thumbnail, even if you don't immediately see the A.I.-generated asian guy's face, that the video is going to present you with the A.I-generated asian guy with the A.I.-generated caucasian-sounding narrator not synched-up to the A.I.-generated asian guy's mouth movements, along with the crappy A.I.-generated background 'art', which somewhat resembles expressionist/impressionist-era artwork. if you listen to that voice long enough, and carefully examine that art & those pictures, you'll see through it. it's propaganda garbage, designed to lull you into a false sense of security & 'sound advice'. they might spit out some facts, but they'll just as quickly lead you out into the weeds & bramble. the non-chalance, the easy-going attitude-- it's all fake. it's also reminiscent of early covid-era presidential declarations like 'we're not worried' or 'it's contained'. there are literally dozens and dozens- or even hundreds at this point- of channels with differing names pushing the same format. that's not you tube looking to empower you with knowledge; it's an all-out push to manipulate your thinking. you're not being given insider info; you're being targeted for manipulation. one claimed recently that JP Morgan had collapsed. many of them claim 'something just broke' in the silver market. none of those claims are true. don't bother with those videos or channels. you're much better off reading elsewhere instead of being spoon-fed false direction on you tube. that's you tube preying on lazy viewers with poor critical thinking skills. heck, you're actually better off right here! I get more from members' single comments than from a dozen 'asian guy' videos (not that I've watched a dozen of them... it only took a few several-minute-long views/listens to peg those frauds). you tube is mostly junk food for the eyes and mind. it's visual pap and it's bad for you. not entirely, just mostly. don't be fooled. sorry for the babble, but this one has been welling-up for weeks. I thought it prudent to kick my Two Cents in. back to our silver rollercoaster ride. so china's gonna shut the door on silver exports january 2, or similar... hmm, just in time for the weekend. curious timing. why don't they just shut that door immediately, like today? nothing to see here, move along, units. $90 silver is coming whether anyone likes it or not.

Quote: Question that should be asked was where is industrial use of silver irreplaceable with some cheaper material? What fraction of the total use is irreplaceable? As said above, it is all about electronics. Silver is the best conductor of electricity, copper is second place.

Youtube is for two things: music and propaganda, so if it ain't got that swing it don't mean a thing.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
