Not good with nickels and I am not sure how much the noise affected the grade, so I will come in with MS-64.

I see lots of chatter - maybe MS63?

I'll guess MS-63. Lots of marks.
Errers and Varietys.

Quote: Not my coin. =) Hmmm. Then this is going to be one of those "scream, tear my hair out, pound my head against the wall and wonder what got into them on grading" moments, isn't it? OK, I'll put on my PCGS Dunce Cap and say they graded it as MS-70 First Day of Issue Extra Special Sauce Full Buffalo Toes DMPL. On a bourse floor on Planet Earth, IMHO it's a generic MS-63.

@Brandmeister, thanks for posting this. It's a fantastic example of botched grading. I'm bookmarking it for the next time somebody claims that the TPGs don't make mistakes or that we can rely on sight-unseen buying. Ugh.

I think you guys were generous at MS63. Given those scuffs on the neck and all those splotches and discoloration in the fields, I might have graded it AU58.
Certainly that chunk missing on the rim should have put MS66 way out of reach. Also worth pointing out that the next dozen MS65 coins almost all look tremendously better than that specimen.

Quote:smat is correct, this 2005-D Jefferson Buffalo nickel is also the highest graded plate coin on PCGS Quote: I think you guys were generous at MS63. Seems like I was on to something with the 64. I underestimated their overestimation.
